Configuration of local resolver (/etc/resolv.conf)

The local resolver contains the IP of the local loopback device.

Configuration for DNSMasq

DNSMasq is used on the host to provide DNS. This is required to be able to route DNS queries for specific domains to specific hosts, especially the DNS queries for the URIBL.com blacklist.

This leads to the following DNSMasq configuration:

  • Listening on interface 'lo' (to prevent serving non-local requests)
  • Disabled DHCP and TFTP
  • General queries going to Google DNS
  • uribl.com queries going to uribl.com DNS
